The Power of Nuclear Bombs in pictures

Today in class we talked about the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This led to the issue of the arms race during the Cold War. I ended by showing the students an excellent infographic about the power of the various bombs, and so now I share it with you!

**By the way this website is FABULOUS in representing information in a creative way. **

Life in Cuba as a dissident

yoani_sanchez.gif

Yoani Sanchez is a journalist born and raised in La Habana, Cuba. Today she writes about daily life in Cuba,  with little patience for the island's imperfections.

This is the story of the day she arrested and detained by the Cuban authorities for trying to "disrupt a trial" about an opponent of the state killed in a mysterious car accident.

Susan Cain: The Power of Introverts

This is a subject that I've wrestled with for many years, especially as an extroverted person who teaches introverted students. This TED talk is by Susan Cain, who has written a book about this interesting subject. It makes me re-evaluate some of the situations that I have had recently in the classroom and in my personal life. Check it out.
